Sean Dyche has revealed that Everton were "gearing up" for their Merseyside derby clash with Liverpool before it was postponed.
Last weekend's final-ever meeting between the teams at Goodison Park had to be called off on safety grounds due to the arrival of Storm Darragh in the region.
But Dyche admits that the Toffees had been in preparation mode when the news filtered through that their latest derby showdown had been put on hold.
"Obviously we wanted to play the game but safety obviously had to play its part," said Dyche.
"I was here [at the training ground] in the morning and the wind was horrendous, to be honest, so they had to call it.
"That was a blow for everyone as we were gearing up for it."
Dyche also revealed that Séamus Coleman, Youssef Chermiti, Nathan Patterson, Jake O'Brien and Armando Broja all took part in a behind-closed-doors win over Mansfield Town earlier this week.
Everton travel to Arsenal this weekend.
