AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca decided to take aim at the team last night following the win over Red Star at San Siro, and the reasons have been explained.

Calciomercato.com write how in the freezing cold of San Siro, Tammy Abraham’s late goal sent the 53,000 fans home happy after a disappointing show from every point of view. The only positive was the result, though, and Fonseca made his thoughts clear after the game.

“I am a person who is not satisfied only with the result. Obviously the most important thing is that we won and that we are in a good position but I am like this, there are things that are difficult to change,” he said.

“And sometimes I am tired of struggling with these things. I am not satisfied with the team’s performance. I know that I work every day to prepare the team, to do well.

“I don’t know if everyone in the team can say this. We had the obligation to arrive today and do everything to win the match. And we didn’t do it.”

They were strong, clear and harsh words, which could lead to another rift with the team. After the defeat against Fiorentina the Portuguese coach had harshly attacked his team, but this time he has done it after a win.

When training resumes Fonseca will debrief the team and clarify what he did not like in the mediocre performance he saw. The main problem lies in the attitude of a team that seems to rest on its victories and not learn from the lessons of defeats.
