As Paulo Fonseca claimed that he would not be afraid to use Milan Futuro or Primavera players during a post-match rant over some of his players’ attitude on Wednesday night, here are five Rossoneri youngsters who the coach could call upon.

Fonseca did not hold back in his post-match press conference after his side’s 2-1 win over Red Star in the Champions League, accusing some of his squad of not fulfilling their obligation of giving everything they have for the shirt.

Fonseca did not name any individuals, which has led to speculation over who exactly he was referring to.

One of the suggestions from the Italian press is left-back Theo Hernandez, who has struggled to replicate his form from previous seasons in 2024-25. If Milan were looking for a new left-back, the obvious choice from the Futuro squad would be Alex Jimenez.

The 19-year-old has already featured in the first team under Stefano Pioli, but has not yet had a chance under Fonseca. He is still technically part of the Milan Futuro team, having scored twice from 14 appearances this term.

Regardless of attitude, central midfield has been somewhat of a problem area for the Rossoneri this season, as there is not been a natural replacement for either Youssouf Fofana or Tijjani Reijnders this season.

Milan are well stocked with young midfielders, and could call upon Italy U21 star Kevin Zeroli, or summer signing Silvano Vos, formerly of Ajax. In a more advanced midfield role, Italy U17 star Mattia Liberali could also be an option to consider for the future.

Silvano Vos joins Milan Futuro from Ajax.

If Fonseca is looking for another option out wide, Chaka Traore could be ready to make the step up. The 19-year-old has a handful of Serie A appearances from his time with Parma, and has already scored for the Milan first team in a 4-1 win over Cagliari in the Coppa Italia in 2023.

A bonus ‘sixth’ option would be starting 16-year-old Francesco Camarda up front. Though still a teenager, he is already well established within the first team set-up.
