Chelsea have set their asking price at just £35m for Christopher Nkunku this summer according to reports in France.

Nkunku has struggled this season, but is still Chelsea’s joint top scorer with Cole Palmer on 14 goals, although only three of those have come in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old was left out of the squad against Fulham for what Enzo Maresca described as a “technical” decision, and it’s clear the Italian hasn’t been impressed with Nkunku’s recent efforts on the pitch.

Chelsea to accept just £35m for Nkunku this summer

Nkunku has come in for heavy criticism this season and he failed to take his chance in the absence of Nicolas Jackson.

The France international was linked with a move to Bayern Munich in January, and it looks clear he’ll be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit door this summer.

Nkiunku has failed to live up to expectation following his £52m move from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, and some of that is down to injuries, but a lot is down to him just not doing enough.

Nkunku and Palmer have both scored 14 goals this season.

French outlet Maxifoot have reported the Blues are prepared to accept a big loss on the Frenchman, and now value at him at around £35m.

The report adds Nkunku has expressed his desire to return to the Bundesliga, where he had a successful spell with Leipzig.

It will be interesting to see if Bayern reignite their interest, or if any other clubs enter the race for Nkunku off the back of an underwhelming and disappointing campaign.

Nkunku’s confidence is clearly really down, and he missed a penalty in the Conference League tie against Legia Warsaw earlier this month.

The problem Chelsea face this summer is interested clubs know they want to sell Nkunku, which puts them in a weak negotiating position and could force them to accept less than they want for the player.
