Chelsea are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, but aren’t prepared to meet the asking price according to reports.

The Blues have been busy in the transfer window and have already signed Tosin Adarabioyo on a free from Fulham, whilst they have agreed deals to sign teenagers Omari Kellyman and Marc Guiu from Aston Villa and Barcelona respectively.

The club are believed to still be in the market for a striker and a wide player, whilst a left back could arrive if one of Ben Chilwell or Marc Cucurella departs.

Chelsea interested in Murillo

Brazilian outlet UOL have reported that the Blues are interested in centre back Murillo, with Forest valuing the player at £50.7m.

The report adds that in initial contacts Chelsea said they wouldn’t be prepared to meet that valuation, and are considering offering two players plus cash to make up the deal.

Chelsea are interested in Forest centre back Murillo.

With the addition of Adarabioyo the Blues currently have six centre backs in the squad, plus Alfie Gilchrist, but the youngster is going to be loaned out next season, with Italian side Como interested.

It’s interesting that Chelsea still seem to be targeting centre backs, but any move will almost certainly be dependant on Trevoh Chalobah leaving the club with the Blues looking to move the 24-year-old on this summer.

Murillo joined Forest last summer from Brazilian side Corinthians and made 36 appearances in all competitions as Forest stayed in the Premier League for a second consecutive season.

The 21-year-old falls into the age bracket that Chelsea are looking to recruit, and he certainly impressed last season, but £50m does seem steep.

The Blues are looking to offload a number of players this summer so if Forest were open to it Chelsea do have the capability to offer players as part of the deal, but as things stand it’s hard to see this move happening.
