Brendan addresses Celtic’s Kieran Tierney injury fears | OneFootball

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has addressed Kieran Tierney’s fitness after the Scotland Internationalist was substituted on Flag Day at Paradise. The leftback started in the 1-0 win over St Mirren but was replaced midway through the second half, sparking fears that he’d picked up an injury.

Speaking after the game, Brendan confirmed that Tierney was fine, suggesting that he needs to have his game time managed.

“He’s fine, he is still gaining his fitness, Kieran.

“He hasn’t played a lot of football in the last few years so we have to manage him in the games.

“I thought he was excellent.”

Later in the evening, Rodgers confirmed to the media why Tierney had to get taken off: “A wee bit of cramp.”

Rodgers decided to bring Auston Trusty on for KT, moving Liam Scales to left back with Trusty joining CCV in the central pairing. It remains to be seen whether Inamura remains at Celtic to act as KT’s understudy or whether he is loaned out to gain first team exposure. Although, if he does move on, it will mean that Rodgers needs to add another player in the transfer window.

Celtic require to bring in a number of attackers with a couple of wingers and a striker required. The manager has spoken about wanting quality into his squad but so far, the club have only added Shin Yamada and Callum Osmand to play in the attacking third. Neither featured on Sunday with the signing from Fulham not even making the bench.
