Brentford put on a strong display, comfortably beating Bray Wanderers 3-0 at Carlisle Grounds on Tuesday evening.

The young Bees had to be patient in the opening half with the side eventually opening the scoring just before the break through a Iwan Morgan header. The striker struck again in a dominant second period before substitute Ethan Laidlaw wrapped up the win for Brentford.

Neil MacFarlane made five chances to the side that drew to Stockport in the side’s previous outing with Vincent Angelini, Conor McManus, Daniel Oyegoke, Mukhammadali Urinboev and Angel Waruih all introduced to the starting line-up.

It was a positive start from the Bees in Ireland who looked to work the ball out to the wings as the side attempted to get a foothold early on.

The visitors thought they had got themselves ahead on 20 minutes when an excellent pass across goal from Ali Urinboev found Kyreece Lisbie at the far post, but his goal was disallowed for offside.

Angel Waruih came close for Brentford when the midfielder nearly finished a well-rehearsed set-piece but his effort went just over the bar.

Bray struggled to get out of their own half as the midfield three of Riley Owen, Waruih and Urinboev controlled the ball for the away side leaving the hosts frustrated for the majority of the opening half.

Lisbie was causing the Bray backline problems with his overlapping runs from right-back. On 38 minutes his deep cross found Tony Yogane who showed some good footwork to make room for his shot before putting the ball over the bar.

Brentford eventually got their deserved lead four minutes before the interval when an excellent cross from Lisbie found Morgan who headed home in confident fashion.

The young Bees continued their dominance in the second half and could have made it 2-0 when Ashley Hay linked up brilliantly with Lisbie only for the Brentford no.2 to get under his shot as the ball flew over the bar.

Lisbie had Bray left-back Zach Nolan’s number as the full-back continued to gallop down the right flank.

Just before the hour mark his cutback found Yogane who saw his shot from close range saved well by Ben Clark.

The visitors eventually doubled their lead on 64 minutes and it was Morgan again who found the back of the net.

Substitutes Laidlaw and Max Dickov combined on the left flank before the latter forced a save from the Bray keeper which was parried into the path of Morgan allowing the forward to tap the ball into an empty net.

Bray did enjoy some small spells of possession in the second half but struggled to get past a stern Brentford back line with centre-backs Oyegoke and Benjamin Arthur remaining solid throughout.

Brentford wrapped up a perfect day at the office making it 3-0 on 86 minutes when an Isaac Holland shot was saved into the path of Laidlaw who passed the ball into an empty net.
