Belgian international Wout Faes has been a vital piece in Leicester City's defence since his arrival at the King Power in 2022 from Ligue 1 side Reims.

The 27-year-old has been subject to plenty of transfer speculation this summer with it being reported by Fabrizio Romano via X, that Turkish league giants, Besiktas, have the Leicester man on their radar with time running out in the summer transfer window.

Faes has made over 120 appearances for the Foxes, playing in the English top-flight and Championship, as well as having a wealth of experience on the international stage for Belgium, where he has earned 28 caps so far in his career.

With his days in a Leicester City shirt perhaps being numbered, we could well see the centre-back jetting off for new pastures overseas.

With it being reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano that Faes' time in the Midlands could be coming to an end, Besiktas have been in search of defensive reinforcements, with Danilho Doekhi of Bundesliga side, Union Berlin also being among their shortlist.

As for Faes, despite links with a move away from the club, the Belgian still remains to be a vital cog in the Foxes' defence and looks to be a player that new manager Marti Cifuentes would love to keep around at the King Power after featuring in both of Leicester City's opening two Championship fixtures.

With Faes being a player that could well provide Leicester with an immediate return to the Premier League, he has been well-renowned for his defensive stability and reliability over the past three years at the club.

Despite transfer speculation going on in the background, Faes' performance levels have remained high for the Foxes as shown on the opening day of the season. After coming on with 20 minutes to go in the game, Faes provided the winning goal in the 87th minute, which saw the Foxes go on to win 2-1 against Sheffield Wednesday.

The 27-year-old also provided an assist in Leicester's disappointing loss away to Preston on the weekend.

Leicester City would miss Wout Faes if Besiktas deal is sealed.

With Faes being added to Besiktas' shortlist as they look to bolster their defensive options, fans have taken to X to share their thoughts on the potential move - and they're not all pleased.

The Belgian's bullish nature and desire to fight for the badge that Leicester fans have been so used to seeing could prove to be a big loss if this deal were to happen.

Therefore, even though the Foxes have had an up-and-down start to the season, losing Faes to Besiktas would certainly be a big loss to all involved at Leicester City, as a void would be left in their defence and with very little time would remain to find a suitable replacement.

Leicester, of course, have sanctioned a number of high-profile outgoings this summer following relegation to the Championship. Nigerian midfielder Wilfried Ndidi has already joined Besiktas, whereas Mads Hermansen has returned to the Premier League with West Ham United and fears remain over the likes of Bilal El Khannouss and Abdul Fatawu being prized away, too, with Leicester having found it difficult to replace departing players and bolster their squad amid ongoing financial concerns away from the pitch.
