As Real Madrid and Bayern Munich gear up for the crucial second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final, the Bavarians’ manager, Thomas Tuchel, has been busy testing new tactics and strategies to maximize his team’s chances of advancing.

According to a report from BILD (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Tuchel has been experimenting with some key lineup changes during training sessions ahead of the match at the Santiago Bernabeu and he is expected to make three big changes to the starting XI.

One of the most notable changes involves the defensive line. Matthijs de Ligt is set to take over from Kim Min-jae, who struggled in the first leg and was involved in Real Madrid’s scoring plays.

De Ligt, the Dutch centre-back, missed the first leg due to muscle issues but is now expected to form a strong central defensive partnership with Eric Dier on Wednesday.

Tuchel is expected to change things in midfield

In the midfield, Tuchel is considering a different setup. Aleksandar Pavlovic may be paired with Konrad Laimer, a shift from the first leg, where Leon Goretzka started in the middle.

It is to be noted that Goretzka was substituted at halftime for Raphael Guerreiro, who played as a midfielder but is now sidelined due to an injury sustained in a recent Bundesliga match.

More changes in attack

Another potential change is in the attacking lineup, with Serge Gnabry expected to replace Thomas Muller. After overcoming his muscular problems, Gnabry is poised to take on a more prominent role against Real Madrid.

His inclusion would add a dynamic edge to Bayern’s attack. Furthermore, the presence of Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane will provide crucial support to the prolific Harry Kane.

Tuchel’s adjustments aim to improve Bayern Munich’s performance and secure a win in Madrid.

With these strategic shifts, the team is preparing for a tough match against a formidable opponent.
