The board at La Liga giants Barcelona were ready to green light the sale of a member of the club’s defensive ranks earlier this summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Gerard Martín as the player in question.
The name of defender Martín of course took its place front and centre in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona earlier this summer.
This came after word was forthcoming that the 23-year-old had been identified as a leading summer target on the part of not one, but two Premier League clubs.
Both Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers were understood to have earmarked Martín as a potential signing with a view to next season.
The latter even went as far as to table an offer for his services, worth a sum in the region of €15 million.
And if the latest word stemming from Spain on Wednesday is anything to go by, then Barcelona appear to have been very much ready to accept as much.
As per a report from Sport:
‘The Blaugrana club were totally open to selling him to Wolverhampton when a proposal of more than 15 million euros arrived.’
However, it is concluded that:
‘Gerard refused to change scenery and everything ended there.’
