Last Saturday, Lamine Yamal kicked off the new season in spectacular fashion. On Mallorca's pitch during the opening matchday of La Liga, the Spanish prodigy delivered a pinpoint assist to Raphinha for Barcelona's opening goal against Mallorca. He went on to seal the victory with a stunning goal in stoppage time (0-3). Yamal's performance did not go unnoticed by Steve McManaman, a Real Madrid legend.

"We already spoke about him before the match. We were talking about him last year. He’s the star of La Liga, and what he did in the final moments of the match was absolutely brilliant. He’s got that ability to go down the left, where he’s so strong, but also to break away on the right. He has everything right now, and he’s only going to get better," he said on the Premier Sports platform.

Steve McManaman also took the opportunity to issue a word of caution to Barça regarding the management of Lamine Yamal: "I’ve said it several times already: I hope Barça knows how to protect him a bit, and that they don’t use him systematically in games that are already decided, because his talent might end up frustrating opponents."
