AS Monaco: Is Breel Embolo on his way out?

AS Monaco has decided to leave Breel Embolo out of the squad for their trip to Le Havre this Saturday, August 16, 2025, for the opening day of Ligue 1. The Swiss striker, of Cameroonian descent, was not included in the group, an omission that fuels speculation about an impending exit.

Breel Embolo is, in fact, in advanced talks with another club. Nothing has been made official yet, but negotiations seem serious enough that the Swiss international is no longer part of the team's immediate plans.

Signed in the summer of 2022 from Borussia Mönchengladbach, Embolo made a convincing start in Monaco colors, netting 14 goals in all competitions during his debut season. However, things took a turn for the worse after he suffered an ACL tear in the summer of 2023, sidelining him for several months. Upon returning in 2024, the striker never fully regained his consistency and saw his standing in the attacking pecking order weaken.
