Newcastle United cruised to a 4-0 win against Leicester City at St James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Magpies produced a rampant attacking display, with Jacob Murphy (2), Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak scoring.
Despite the win, Newcastle have been unconvincing this season, recording 23 points from 16 top-flight matches. They are 12th in the league standings.
With the January transfer window approaching, manager Eddie Howe will look to add some fresh faces to the squad.
But to increase their spending power, they will have to sell players next month.
Miguel Almiron has been enduring a torrid season, and he could be traded in January. Hertha Berlin’s Ibrahim Maza is a potential replacement.
According to Chronicle Live, the Tyneside club want to sign future stars for cheaper transfer fees, and they have identified Maza as an ideal option.
The 19-year-old mainly plays as an attacking midfielder but can also operate on the wings.
Almiron, who is currently earning £60k-per-week, has started only once in the Premier League this season, with Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon ahead of him in the pecking order.
He has a contract until 2026, but it makes no sense to keep a player who is no longer in Howe’s plans.
River Plate have been linked with the 30-year-old, and the Premier League outfit will likely offload him in January if they receive a good offer.
