Largie Ramazani was forced off in the Whites' 2-1 win over Watford, while Junior Firpo picked up his fifth booking of the season.

Leeds United suffered a double blow on Tuesday evening in their 2-1 win over Watford, as Largie Ramazani hobbled off the pitch while Junior Firpo picked up his fifth booking of the season, something that could prove to be an issue, according to pundit Carlton Palmer.

It means that the full-back will not play against Bristol City on Saturday due to a suspension, and the Whites' new winger looks likely to miss out as the medical team assess the damage to his ankle.

Early goals from Ramazani and Brenden Aaronson were enough to see Daniel Farke's side to all three points at Elland Road in mid-week despite Kwadwo Baah's second-half strike halving the deficit.

It was a victory that sent Leeds into second place in the Championship temporarily before Burnley's 1-1 draw away to Hull City on Wednesday evening. Nevertheless, it has been an excellent start from the Yorkshire-based side, who are still in touching distance of table-toppers Sunderland.

Farke will now have to plan for the lunchtime clash this weekend without two of his key stars, giving the former Norwich City boss yet another matchday with selection problems.

Pundit has his say on Leeds' new selection issues

It took some time for the Whites to gain some consistency, but in the last few weeks, they have been very good, and their new signings are finally starting to click.

But it is not only new faces that are starting to perform, with the likes of Firpo starting to prove why they were brought in for the Premier League. The Dominican Republic international has been exceptional this season, both attacking and defensively, and he will be a huge miss down the left flank at Ashton Gate.

Former England and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, Carlton Palmer, has been speaking exclusively to Football League World about Leeds' selection issues, and the impact that they are going to have.

He started: "Leeds United have done fantastically well this season given the injury problems they’ve had. The situation they had was making the Leeds hierarchy look into the players who are out of contract at the moment and not being picked up by a club, but at the moment they're still managing to pick up results.

"I mean they’ve been outstanding the last two games, beating Sheffield United and beating Watford. But now they've got further problems, with Firpo picking up his fifth booking of the season, so he's going to miss the Bristol City game and Ramazani coming off. They'll have to assess his injuries and how he's going to be.

"It's like I've said all season, it's been a problem for Daniel Farke, losing quality players for long periods of time, and he still manages to get results. So yes, it's going to be a big blow. It's not going to be an easy game. There's no easy games in the Championship."

Palmer continued: "You've seen that anybody can beat anybody in that league. Bristol City are halfway up the division and last time out they had a 2-2 draw away to Stoke City, and they also beat Middlesbrough away, which is a fantastic result.

"So, Bristol City are going along nicely, so Leeds having to go there will be tough for them, and again, the problem of missing Firpo and Ramazani is going to be assessed, but you assume that, having hobbled off in the Watford game, the Bristol City game will come along too quickly, so we'll have to wait and see.

"But it's a massive blow for Daniel Farke again, in his quest to get Leeds United over the line this season and get them back promoted, but he still keeps picking up results. I mean, surely after Christmas, if he gets his full complement back, Leeds will kick on very, very strongly."

Loss of Ramazani will be felt hard

While Firpo is an important part of Farke's team, the void left by Ramazani will be felt particularly hard, especially after how well he has managed to adapt to the Championship since joining in the summer.

The 23-year-old has scored three times and registered an assist in his first 8 appearances in a Leeds shirt, and that includes the most recent game against Watford where he played less than 15 minutes.

Ramazani's style of play does not see him whip in cross after cross, but instead he is fantastic at cutting in down the left, and striking the ball hard at the goal. 40% of his shots have found the target so far, and he will continue to pick up goals the more he plays.

However, Farke will have to work out a plan to make his loss not hurt as much as it could do. Manor Solomon has the quality to start, and Dan James is slowly coming back from his hamstring injury, but it is still tough to tell whether the Bristol City game could be too early for him to start.

Nevertheless, it will be a boost for the Robins, and that left flank will be significantly weaker without two of the best players in the division playing.
