There is one Liverpool player in particular who is returning to pre-season training with his future very much up in the air.
Luis Diaz, 28, has been the subject of plenty of transfer stories over the last few weeks.
We’ve seen interest in the Colombian materialise from Saudi Arabia - as well as Barcelona - but for now the winger remains a Liverpool player.
It’s no secret that Diaz’s contract is an issue for Liverpool to solve. Signed for £37.5m from Porto back in 2022, Diaz remains on the same terms he signed back then.
It’s been reported widely that Diaz makes “only” £55k per week in comparison to around £120k to £140k for the likes of Federico Chiesa, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.
As such, if Liverpool have got any hopes of securing Diaz past 2027 then a pay rise will be necessary.
There are no indications that the club are willing to meet those demands - so either Diaz departs when his contract expires or sporting director Richard Hughes accepts a suitable bid this summer or next.
Now comes a story from BILD in Germany which claims Diaz is wanted by Bayern Munich. Not only that but apparently the 13-goal forward has given his blessing to the move AND Liverpool are willing to do a deal.
Barcelona were believed to be Diaz’s first choice destination but it doesn’t look like the Catalans will get a deal done.
Liverpool are reported to be willing to accept around €80m for Diaz and will no doubt be hoping Bayern’s need for a forward option will push them into a deal.
