Danish striker Yussuf Poulsen’s transfer to Hamburg should be officially confirmed today. Multiple German footballing media sources confirm that the 31-year-old has passed his Hamburg medical. Formal introductions from the newly promoted Bundesliga club are not long in forthcoming.

Florian Plettenberg reports that Hamburg have agreed to Poulsen’s salary demands. Poulsen will earn roughly €2m this season via an easily obtainable performance bonuses. Additionally, as GGFN reported yesterday, Leipzig have helped out with a €1m one-time severance payment to their striker.

Poulsen’s new deal in the Hanseatic city state will run for two years. The Dane is scheduled to partake in Monday training with the team. Leipzig pocket a base-transfer-fee of €1.5m for their longtime player, which could also rise closer to €2m if performance-based incentives are met.

Poulsen will not be the last HSV addition this summer. In addition to another center back, Hamburg seek a new goalkeeper to compete with promotion keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes following the departure of Matheo Raab to Union Berlin.

Following Immanuel Pherai’s renewed injury (torn ligament in his knee), the club is also looking for another midfielder for the number eight position.
