The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 is well and truly in full swing now after day two of action, and Italy have made their tournament bow with success.
After Group A began on Wednesday, Thursday was the turn of Group B and the Azzurre, meaning that as many as eight Bianconere were involved, with Valentina Bergamaschi being added to the official squad following an injury to Juventus teammate Chiara Beccari ruling the 20-year-old out.
It was an ex-Bianconera who scored the game’s only goal in Arianna Caruso, while Martina Lenzini, Cecilia Salvai, Lisa Boattin and Cristiana Girelli all started. Our new signing Michela Cambiaghi came off the bench in the second half.
Now, the Azzurre’s focus is on Monday, 7 July, when they take on Portugal in Geneva on Matchday 2.
