Youssouf Fofana (25) is expected to be of interest to many top clubs across Europe this summer. The France international, part of Didier Deschamps Euro 2024 squad, has just one year remaining on his contract at AS Monaco, and in a roundtable interview, attended by Get French Football News, the Principality club’s CEO Thiago Scuro has admitted that the player could leave this summer.

Foot Mercato have reported that Arsenal and AC Milan are interested in Fofana, who according to Scuro, has had the best year of his career at the club. However, with just 12 months remaining on his deal, the time may be right for Fofana and Monaco to part ways, as Scuro admitted.

Maripán could leave, Monaco hoping to keep Akliouche

“There were good opportunities for him to leave last summer. It was his decision to stay because of his personal goals. It was a very good decision for us because he had a very good and consistent season, for him too as it was probably his best season at AS Monaco. He is probably one of the players that we are open to a departure. We will see the opportunities that he has. It is still too early to make a decision,” said Scuro.

Monaco’s CEO added that Guillermo Maripán, who is in the same contractual situation as Fofana, could also leave. “The door could be open,” said Scuro. However, Les Monégasques are less open to Maghnes Akliouche leaving the club. The France U21 international is a target for Paris Saint-Germain, according to L’Équipe.

“The priority is to keep Maghnes. There is Champions League football in front of us, and one more season can also be good for his development, I believe this but I don’t control everyone’s decisions. Things may change in the market depending on players’ desires but the plan is to keep Maghnes for at least one more season at Monaco,” said Scuro.
