Barcelona have faced several bureaucratic and permit-related hurdles in their bid to have the Spotify Camp Nou ready to host matches again by September.

Determined to meet that target, the club have been working around the clock, with steady progress being made both structurally and in the finer details of the stadium’s renovation.

Barcelona complete a key milestone

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, the latest milestone came with the installation of the new benches that will be used by both the home and visiting teams.

Images shared on social media in recent days show the sleek, comfortable seating now in place, marking another tangible step toward reopening day.

Accessibility improvements are also underway, with dedicated seating for disabled spectators being added in the goal areas. This is part of the club’s plans to make the stadium one of the most inclusive in the world.

Barcelona have already secured approval from the City Council for a modified reopening license, allowing for a phased return rather than a full-capacity debut.

The initial phase would see around 27,000 spectators accommodated in the Grandstand and North Goal stands, with later expansions to include the Lateral stand and the South Goal.

Crucially, before the first match can be played, Barça must present the Certificate of Completion of Works to the City Council, LaLiga, and UEFA.

The club expect to notify authorities of their intention to return during the week of August 18–24.

If all goes according to plan, Barcelona will host Valencia at Camp Nou on Matchday 4 of LaLiga, the weekend of September 13–14, marking their first home game after three away fixtures to start the season.
