Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-1 on Wednesday night at Parc des Princes, scoring three straight goals to take control of the tie ahead of the second leg. Nonetheless, the Premier League club wants its supporters to believe in a comeback.
While PSG’s quality ultimately made the difference, some might point to Unai Emery’s choices as a factor in Villa’s second-half drop-off. The visitors struck first, but Desire Doue leveled it just before the break to shift the momentum.
From there, PSG took command. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave them the lead early in the second half, and they never looked back. Nuno Mendes capped it off with a late goal, giving the French side a comfortable two-goal cushion.
