Vlahovic holds firm as Juventus transfer plans stall | OneFootball

Juventus are entering the heart of the summer transfer window with multiple operations in motion, as reported by Gazzetta, JNetwork24, Spazio J, Bianconera News, and Il Resto del Carlino. The club’s top brass, led by Damien Comolli, is working on both strengthening the squad and managing major exits.

The most delicate situation surrounds Dusan Vlahovic. Despite being viewed by Juventus as a potential departure—primarily for financial reasons given his €12 million gross salary next season—the Serbian striker remains unwilling to leave or reduce his wages before his contract expires in 2026. According to Gazzetta and JNetwork24, Vlahovic has already declined approaches, including interest from Milan and Fenerbahce, preferring to stay at the club. This impasse is holding up Juventus’ ongoing pursuit of Jonathan David from Lille. Negotiations for David continue, with the Canadian set to become a free agent in July, but the club needs to resolve Vlahovic’s future to unlock room in both the budget and squad.

The standoff risks escalating, with management reportedly considering the drastic step of excluding Vlahovic from the first team to pressure a resolution—mirroring the method previously used with Federico Chiesa. Talks between Comolli and Vlahovic’s agent are yet to happen, but the clock is ticking as the club aims to reshape its attacking line.

Outgoings have also stalled elsewhere, most notably for Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula. Juventus had reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for a joint transfer worth €23–25 million, but Weah’s reluctance to leave quashed the move. The club is now seeking alternative solutions, with Monaco monitoring the American winger.

Defensively, injury setbacks have forced Juventus to prioritise reinforcement. The club is eyeing several centre-backs. Aymeric Laporte of Al-Nassr has asked to leave the Saudi club and is on Juventus’ radar. The Spanish international, whose transfer fee is estimated at €10 million, would need to take a drastic pay cut from his €25 million salary to make the move feasible. Athletic Bilbao represents competition for his signature. Another name under consideration is Jhon Lucumi of Bologna; the Colombian has a release clause set at €28 million and is seen as a viable option for the back line.

There is also future planning in midfield. Juventus are closely following Christos Mouzakitis, the 18-year-old Olympiacos talent likened in Greece to Iniesta for his technical skill. Olympiacos reportedly values him at €30 million, but Juventus—as well as Milan—are tracking his development with long-term interest in mind.

Among younger profiles, Flamengo’s Wesley is being scouted by Comolli during the Club World Cup in Miami, with Roma also competing for the Brazilian left-back. The player is open to a move to Serie A, and the price could be negotiated below the initial €30 million valuation.

Juventus’ strategy remains a blend of immediate reinforcement and targeted investment in emerging talent, but much hinges on the resolution of high-profile contract situations that continue to shape the summer window.
