USA puts unbeaten start on the line against Haiti

MIAMI — The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup continues with the United States and Haiti meeting in Group D on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
This will be the fifth time these teams face each other in the Concacaf Gold Cup. The U.S. leads the series with a 3-1-0 record. The last meeting came at the 2021 edition, with the USA taking a 1-nil win in the Group Stage.
U.S. seeks to build on Quarterfinals qualification
The United States secured its place in the Quarterfinals with victories against Trinidad and Tobago and Saudi Arabia. The U.S. will seek to end the Group Stage with a perfect mark and has yet to concede in the 2025 edition.
Chris Richards shined in the latest encounter with the match-winning goal to complement his defensive efforts. Malik Tillman leads the team with two goals in the current edition.
Stat: In the 1-0 win against Saudi Arabia, the United States extended its unbeaten run in the Gold Cup to 13 matches (W-10 D-3), the second-longest streak without a loss in the tournament’s history. The longest unbeaten run by the Stars and Stripes came between 2003 and 2009, with 15 wins and three draws.
Haiti hoping to finish among top two
Haiti will seek its first win and a full three set of points to help its efforts towards a Knockout Stage appearance as one of the top two teams from the group. Les Grenadiers earned a point in a 1-1 draw with Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.
Frantzdy Pierrot scored for Haiti in the latest result, writing history by becoming the first Haitian player to score in three different editions in the Gold Cup. He is also the all-time leading scorer for Haiti in the Gold Cup with nine goals.

This will be the fifth meeting between the United States and Haiti in Concacaf Gold Cup history, with the U.S. holding an undefeated record of three wins and one draw. All previous encounters have taken place during the group stage.
The first matchup came on February 12, 2000, in Group B play at the Orange Bowl in Miami. The U.S. claimed a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Jovan Kirovski (18’), Eric Wynalda (55’), and Cobi Jones (90’).
The most recent encounter was on July 11, 2021, at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, where the Americans earned a 1-0 win behind an early strike from Sam Vines (8’).
Their only Gold Cup draw came in a memorable 2-2 clash on July 11, 2009, in Foxborough. Davy Arnaud (5’) and Stuart Holden (90’) scored for the U.S., while Haiti stunned the crowd with quick back-to-back goals from Sirin Vaniel (46’) and Mones Chery (48’).
