MIAMI — The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup continues with Trinidad and Tobago and Saudi Arabia meeting in Group D on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
This will be the first ever meeting between the two nations in the Gold Cup. However, the two know each other from five previous friendly encounters. Saudi Arabia leads the series with a 3-1-1 record.
Tournament guests Saudi Arabia will seek its second victory after opening its debut campaign with a 1-nil win against Haiti. Saleh Al-Shehri has scored the lone goal for the Green Falcons.
Trinidad and Tobago are looking to get their first win in the current edition. Justin Garcia was the hero rescued a point for the Soca Warriors in the 1-1 draw with Haiti on Thursday.
All-Time series Trinidad & Tobago v. Saudi Arabia –
This will be the first-ever meeting between Trinidad & Tobago and Saudi Arabia in the Concacaf Gold Cup, though the two sides have faced each other five times in international friendlies.Saudi Arabia leads the all-time series with three wins, one draw, and one loss. Their first-ever clash came on May 8, 1994 and ended in a scoreless draw.
The Saudis earned their first win less than a month later, on June 4, 1994, with a 3-2 result in New Jersey at Richard Stockton College. Majed Abdullah Mohammed (9’), Said Al-Owairan (20’), and Fahad Al-Herafy Al-Bishi (29’) were the scorers for Saudi Arabia, while Angus Eve converted a pair of penalties (43’, 78’) for the Soca Warriors.
Trinidad & Tobago’s only victory in the series came in the most recent meeting, a 3-1 triumph on September 9, 2013, at King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh. Kenwyne Jones scored twice in the opening five minutes, and Andre Boucaud added a third in the 85th. Naif Hazazi found the net for the Saudis in the 47th.
