After a brief scare, it appears that the Vitor Roque – Palmeiras transfer is back on track, with Barcelona set to pocket €25 million in exchange for 80% if the player’s economic rights.
After La Liga and the RFEF threatened to pull the plug on the operation due to some legalities, Barça approached FIFA to address the matter and have received the green light from the governing body.
Now, the only thing remaining is for Real Betis, where Roque is currently on loan, to approve the termination of their agreement with Barça so that the 19-year-old can secure his move to Palmeiras.
With the transfer window in Spain closed already, Real Betis will be unable to sign a replacement for Vitor Roque and have been seeking compensation as a result.
However, SPORT reports that the La Liga club will not receive any financial compensation from either Palmeiras or Barcelona for allowing the striker’s premature departure.
Palmeiras argued that Real Betis had already withdrawn their trust in Roque when they signed Cucho Hernandez in January – coinciding with the Barça loanee’s relegation to the bench in recent La Liga matches.
With the deal between Barcelona and Palmeiras already finalised, the Catalan club directly negotiated with Betis, asking them not to block the operation. Instead of immediate payment, both clubs agreed to explore future avenues of compensation.

One of the ways that Barcelona can compensate Real Betis is that they could relinquish a percentage of the economic rights they still hold on former winger Ez Abde.
Having sold him to Betis in 2023, the Blaugrana retained a 50% future sell-on clause but could reduce their share.
If the Moroccan speedster, who renewed his contract with Betis until 2029, is transferred in the future, the Andalusian outfit could stand to benefit more.
Another avenue is that Real Betis may be given the first option to sign a Barcelona player on loan this summer, similar to how they previously acquired Vitor Roque.
Los Verdiblancos‘ scouting team is closely monitoring several Barça academy players who may struggle to find a place in Hansi Flick’s squad next season.
