FC Barcelona are set to take on Atletico Madrid soon in the Copa del Rey. The Catalan giants are heading into this fixture with only one objective and that is to win. For Barcelona, this first game will be at the Montjuic Stadium and that is why there will be extra motivation to win.
Now, ahead of the game itself, La Blaugrana is aware of the consequences and the scope of the match as well. Moreover, considering how good their opponents are in this semi-final as well, Hansi Flick was always going to field a strong starting line-up to take on Diego Simeone’s side.
For this first-leg, at the Montjuic Stadium, Hansi Flick’s official starting eleven has now been revealed.
In goal, Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will be the player defending the Barcelona net. He has been great so far this season, particularly in this second half of the campaign, and he will be defending Barça against an in-form Atletico Madrid side now.
Ahead of him, Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez will be the two center-backs defending the Barcelona goal against Atletico Madrid. They are aware of the opposition’s strength, and they will also be aware of what exactly they need to do to bypass their compact structure.
On their flanks, Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde will be taking the responsibility to help both their attack and their defense. They are both capable of doing that, and this game will be a big test for them on both ends of the pitch.
In the defensive midfield, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong will pair up to form the team’s midfield pivot. They have showcased just how effective they can be in that role together, and this will be a big test for both players in order to give Barcelona what they want from this first leg.
Ahead of them, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha will be taking over the attacking wings of the team. Fortunately for Hansi Flick, the young winger has managed to make it to this game and he is now getting a starting role as well. Between them, Dani Olmo will be reprising his role as the team’s primary attacking midfielder from the central area as well.
Up top, Ferran Torres will be the player to lead the Barcelona frontline. Having showcased a knack for scoring this season, his presence up there is sure to cause issues for Atletico Madrid if he can manage to be clinical against Diego Simeone’s team.
