Where do you even start? Sweden stunned England to take a deserved 2-0 lead in the first half of their quarter-final, and the Lionesses didn't show enough of a reaction to inspire belief that they could come back.

Suddenly, with 10 minutes to go and a flurry of changes made by Sarina Wiegman, England scored twice within in 102 seconds — the first netted by Lucy Bronze, the second by 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang, both created by Chloe Kelly — to send the game to extra-time.

It ultimately came down to penalties and both teams, visibly exhausted, missed three of their first five, with Sweden goalkeeper Jennifer Falk blasting over with the chance to win, before Lucy Bronze went on to score and England finally won 3-2 on penalties with seven taken apiece.

None other than Spain and Barcelona star Alexia Putellas, who has been on top form so far this summer.

A horrific injury suffered on the eve of the 2022 tournament ruled her not just out of that tournament but limited her role and impact at the 2023 World Cup. The midfielder has looked like she's in the mood to make up for lost time on the international stage.

With three goals and four assists, she leads the tournament for goal contributions and is the obvious candidate for Player of the Tournament as things stand.

Spain were the favourites heading into the summer and absolutely nothing that has been so far in Switzerland should have changed anyone's mind. They look better than ever, combining their dominant possession play with fast, incisive movement and passing in the final third.

Obviously home advantage lies with the Swiss, who have played well so far, but Spain should be too strong for them and underline their status as favourites by setting up a semi-final against either France or Germany.
