Lazio striker Taty Castellanos admits it’s easier for him to play alongside his teammate Boulaye Dia.
The two players were expected to compete for a starting spot at the beginning of the season, but Marco Baroni decided to field the Senegalese as an attacking midfielder who operates in the hole, while confirming the Argentine as his main centre-forward.

The team registered fabulous results during the first part of the season when these two were often on the pitch together. On the contrary, the Biancocelesti have regressed in recent months when this partnership was broken due to injuries.
Nevertheless, Baroni could decide to unleash this attacking duo once more as Lazio look to pull off a comeback for the ages in the Europa League quarter-finals. The Aquile suffered a 2-0 defeat to Bodo/Glimt in the first leg held in Norway, but Castellanos and his teammates will be hellbent on overturning the result this Thursday at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
The Argentine striker joined Baroni for the pre-match press conference (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), and he insisted that playing alongside Dia makes his life easier.
Dia is an important player for the team. Being Lazio’s striker is a big responsibility, so we have to give everything on the pitch. Together, we are stronger, obviously. I feel good on the pitch with him.
The 26-year-old suffered a muscle injury in mid-February, followed by a relapse in early March, but he reveals he’s now fully fit once more.
I’m not used to this type of injury, but that’s football. I’m fine now, I’m improving a lot, I’m 100% fit. We have to be mentally and physically ready, that’s the most important thing.
Finally, Castellanos echoed Baroni’s statements, insisting that a comeback is possible, especially when backed by the overwhelming support of the Laziali.
We know it’s a very difficult match against a team that plays well. But it’s not impossible, at the Olimpico we are strong, we play well. We have to give everything to get a positive result Obviously playing away is difficult while at home, we have the support of the fans. The most important thing will be to give everything on the pitch.
