Lorenzo Pellegrini’s future with Roma remains uncertain.
The midfielder’s contract expires in June, and the club has yet to offer a renewal.
This situation opens up the possibility of a departure, with West Ham ready to make a concrete move, according to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport.
The London club has reportedly already initiated discussions with both Roma and the player’s entourage, offering a top-tier salary and the prospect of a leading role in the Premier League.
A transfer before the deadline would also allow the Giallorossi to reduce their wage bill and raise cash to reinvest in the attacking market.
According to reports, Gasperini would not object to the midfielder’s departure, as he no longer wears the captain’s armband after the decision to tie it to the number of appearances.
Indeed, the manager has never considered Pellegrini one of his key players, having not yet worked directly with him.
The player, recovering from two surgeries—on a tendon and then a nasal septum—performed only individualized training and did not participate in either the pre-season training or the summer tour.
