Surprise Real Madrid star made the most appearances of any player in Europe this season | OneFootball

A departing member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid racked up more appearances than any other player in Europe’s top-5 leagues this past season.

That’s according to statisticians Stats Foot, who point towards Luka Modrić as the player in question.

Croatian international Modrić is of course fresh off taking to the pitch in the colours of Real Madrid for the very last time.

En route to Los Blancos being sent packing from the Club World Cup by Paris Saint-Germain last week, the former Tottenham Hotspur standout was introduced off the bench during the 2nd-half.

This marked not only Modrić’s last outing for the Spanish heavyweights, but also his 73rd of the 2024/25 campaign, taking into account club and country commitments.

In turn, as per the aforementioned Stats Foot:

‘Bradley Barcola (73) is the player who has played the most matches with a club from the 5 major leagues and senior national team this season, tied with Luka Modrić.’
