Celtic Continue Talks with Iheanacho

According to Sky Sports News’ Anthony Joseph and Sky in Italy’s Luca Bendoni, Celtic remain in discussions with free agent Kelechi Iheanacho, with talks set to resume on Tuesday. “Celtic will continue talks with free agent Kelechi Iheanacho on Tuesday. The striker had his Sevilla contract terminated tonight and is free to talk to clubs directly.”

This development adds intrigue to Celtic’s pursuit of attacking reinforcements. Iheanacho, experienced at Premier League and international level, could provide Brendan Rodgers with a proven goal threat.

Deadline Day Signing Confirmed

The Hoops also made a decisive move in the market. “The Hoops have concluded their Deadline Day business with the £5.2m signing of Hammarby IF winger Sebastian Tounekti.” The 22-year-old is expected to bring pace, creativity and depth to Celtic’s wide options as they prepare for domestic and European challenges.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

Celtic supporters will feel a mix of excitement and caution after this update. On one hand, Kelechi Iheanacho’s availability offers a golden opportunity. Many fans remember his Manchester City and Leicester City spell, where his finishing and ability to step up in big games impressed. “Iheanacho would give us a cutting edge in Europe,” some supporters might say, particularly with Celtic eager to be more competitive beyond the Scottish Premiership.

At the same time, his recent release by Sevilla raises questions about fitness, form and consistency. Sceptical fans could point out that he never truly cemented himself as a regular starter in Spain, and that risk remains. Yet the allure of signing a free agent with proven Premier League pedigree is difficult to overlook.

As for Sebastian Tounekti, his £5.2m arrival from Hammarby has gone under the radar, but the winger represents the type of energetic, hungry player Rodgers thrives on developing. “Tounekti could be one for the future but also one for the here and now,” would be the optimistic view.

Celtic appear to be balancing immediate impact with longer-term growth. If both moves work, the Hoops may finally carry the firepower needed to trouble Europe’s elite.
