The arrogance of Sir Jim Ratcliffe knows no bounds.

For those of us on the outside, it has been hilarious to see him adding to the problems at Manchester United, rather than being the saviour their fans were dreaming of.

Simply another snout in the trough alongside his friends the Glazers.

Ever since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became a minority Manchester United owner, his behaviour has been truly embarrassing.

He is somebody who clearly thinks the rules shouldn’t apply to him.

The typical arrogance of somebody who refuses to pay his taxes in the UK and instead has Monaco residence so he can avoid billions in tax, yet he thinks the likes of me and you should subsidise a brand new stadium for Manchester United, so Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazers can become even richer.

So many examples of his arrogant embarrassing behaviour as Ratcliffe fails to get what he and Manchester United want (demand?). In recent days, Sir Jim Ratcliffe having to go cap in hand to beg Erik ten Hag to stay on as manager, after having spoken very publicly to a number of candidates they wanted to replace the Dutch manager, ony for the likes of Thomas Tuchel to want nothing to do with them.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe also believing that UK contract law shouldn’t apply when it comes to what he and Manchester United want, when refusing to do the right thing, refusing to do things professionally, as Newcastle United did in the exact same situation when they took Dan Ashworth from Brighton. Ratcliffe and Man U using friends in the media to make out that Newcastle United are being unreasonable, when in reality it is Man U who are guilty of crass unprofessional behaviour when refusing to do things properly. The net result is that Dan Ashworth is now on 122 days of gardening leave and this could continue all the way to Janury 2026 unless Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Manchester United accept that they can’t bully their way to get what they want, at least not all the time.

Now Sir Jim Ratcliffe is crying because UEFA won’t make a special exception (see below) for himself and Manchester United when it comes to multi-club ownership.

UEFA refusing to allow Ratcliffe to transfer a player from one of his clubs (Nice) to another (Manchester United), when UEFA rules say that the current situation surrounding his position doesn’t allow it.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has owned football clubs for seven years now and knows fine well what the rules are, or at least he should.

There again, if you are somebody so arrogant that thinks rules shouldn’t apply to them, why would Sir Jim Ratcliffe have ever taken any notice… until now, when he finds that actually, the rules do also apply to him.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe believes UEFA rules on multi-club ownership are unfair as Manchester United were prevented from signing a player from Nice.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday that Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, 24, was under consideration as a potential transfer target by United but any move was unlikely due to UEFA rules.

Ligue 1 club Nice are owned by Ratcliffe’s company INEOS, while they and United are currently waiting on a decision over whether they can both play in next season’s Europa League.

Article Five of UEFA’s rulebook states that no individual or legal entity can have “control or influence” over more than one club participating in a UEFA competition, and European football’s governing body must be satisfied that United and Nice are separate entities to maintain their competition’s integrity.

In May, UEFA’s club financial control body first chamber Sunil Gulati outlined that clubs subject to multi-club ownership tests will not be able to transfer any new players between each other during the season they are in the same competition or during the first transfer window immediately afterwards.
