Choudhury is thought to be on the Blades' radar, with Chris Wilder seemingly keen on strengthening his midfield position.
Sheffield United have placed Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury on their shortlist for the January transfer window.
This is according to the Sheffield Star, who believe Chris Wilder is eyeing a move for his former player, who he worked with at Watford.
Choudhury was signed by the Hornets in the summer of 2022 when Rob Edwards was in charge, and it's fair to say that Wilder and Choudhury only had a limited amount of time together, with the former only being appointed in the March of the 2022/23 campaign.
Before Wilder took charge of the Hertfordshire outfit, he was in charge of Middlesbrough, and was linked with the player during his time at the Riverside.
With this in mind, it's perhaps no surprise that the Blades are now interested in a deal for the midfielder, who hasn't exactly been one of the first names on the teamsheet at the King Power Stadium this term.
He played a decent part in the Foxes' promotion back to the Premier League, but has often struggled for game time this term, and a January exit could potentially be on the horizon for him.
The Blades are weighing up a move for Choudhury, according to the Sheffield Star.
It's believed a move may depend on the business that Leicester do during the January window, but with new owners, United are seemingly ready to move quickly in January.
Oliver Arblaster is out for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury and Vini Souza has spent time out recently with a hamstring problem.
With their current lack of midfield depth in mind, Wilder is keen to have more experience in this area, and Choudhury could fit the bill for them as a previous promotion winner.
The Blades need more depth in midfield.
Wilder may still be keen to give Sydie Peck a real opportunity to shine, but more experience is definitely needed, and someone like Choudhury could be ideal.
Not only can the Bangladeshi star play in midfield, but he can also start at full-back if needed, and his versatility could be useful during the second half of the season.
Because the player isn't winning much game time either, this may be the perfect opportunity for United to step in and make an offer.
And it will be interesting to see whether they can get a deal over the line. A permanent deal could be a positive if they can afford it.
