Legendary Manchester United captain Roy Keane wasn’t too impressed with the Premier League debut of Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese manager took center stage on Sunday afternoon at Portman Road, making his first appearance as Man United boss after replacing the sacked Erik ten Hag and interim manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

But despite taking the lead through Marcus Rashford just two minutes into the match, the Red Devils had to settle for a draw after conceding an equalizer through Omari Hutchinson towards the end of the first half.

Keane noted how the visitors showed little urgency in the second period, echoing the sentiments of Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna who argued his team could have emerged victorious.

“Amorim’s got big problems,” said the former Man United midfielder during his appearance on Sky Sports.

“The lack of threat in the second half and Ipswich looked like they’d go on and win. They’ve not won at home all season. Same problems for Man Utd but he’s only had a week with them.

“You have to give the man a chance but the threat going forward, it’s a huge problem for Man Utd. It’s not good enough.”

Amorim changed the formation to a 3-4-2-1 system, but the Irish legend suggested that with the same personnel, the new boss could face the same problems his predecessor had to deal with.

“We saw the shape of the team but it is the same players and the same problems. We talk about leopards and spots. Lack of goals and a lack of quality in the second half. Ipswich looked the better team.”

“It’s his first game. A lot to take in and it has been a mental week for him [Amorim] but ultimately he will be disappointed.”
