Roma are working on extending Lucas Gourna-Douath’s stay in the Italian capital.
The buy option included in the Frenchman’a loan from Salzburg, set at about 19.5 million euros, expired at the end of May without the Giallorossi club exercising it, but the idea of his stay in Trigoria has not yet faded.
According to Il Tempo, Roma, in fact, would have liked to re-discuss the conditions of the agreement, perhaps focussing on a new loan or on a redemption at lower figures. But Salzburg, at the moment, did not open up to any alternative solution.
For the Austrians, the clause was the only way to give up the player and, once it expired, the ball was fully back in their court.
A rigid attitude, which complicated the negotiations and put every development on standby. The midfielder, in the meantime, has expressed on several occasions the desire to stay in the Capital.
Gourna has settled well in the group, has been appreciated for his physicality and dynamism in the middle of the field, and sees in Roma the ideal context to continue his growth. His will is clear, but it will not be enough without a step backwards on the part of Salzburg.
