Cesare Casadei spent most of January stuck at Chelsea as negotiations over his departure dragged on, but late in the window Torino finally beat off the competition from Lazio and secured the midfielder for €15m.

Since then, the midfielder has gone pretty much straight into their team and is now getting the minutes he left Chelsea to find. He’s now played 4 games in a row for Torino, and is seemingly improving with each one.

His most recent game saw the midfielder star against Monzo, scoring a goal in the 2-0 win and ending up with the man of the match award.

Casadei’s outstanding feature is his eye for goal as a midfielder, but in this game he showed off his all around box to box game too. He put in tackles and made the Torino midfield much more physical and competitive, as well as being solid on the ball and helping his team up the pitch.

Cesare Casadei signs his Torino contract.

So why should Chelsea fans still care about a player they’ve already sold? Well, the €15m fee they got for the former Inter man has a 25% sell on fee included. If Casadei goes on to fulfil his potential and gets a big money move on from Turin to somewhere else, the Blues cash in.

That was all part of the long, drawn out negotiations which caused the move to be delayed so much. The Blues continually lowered their up front cash demands in order to get a better deal in terms of sell on, and according to Fabrizio Romano eventually ended up with 25%.

That’s a big number – we’ll be watching Casadei’s progress closely and hoping for a major windfall down the line.
