Tottenham Hotspur have joined the battle for Xavi Simons and want to poach him from under Chelsea’s nose, according to The Daily Mail. Chelsea have not yet been able to make any headway and now face competition from their Premier League rivals.

Simons, who played against Bayern Munich last weekend, is open to leaving Leipzig. According to German media, the former PSV player is eager to make a new move, but RB Leipzig are keen to secure a replacement in Christopher Nkunku or Harvey Elliott beforehand. Both clubs are therefore in discussions about Nkunku, but a breakthrough has not yet been achieved.

Looking to make up for losing out on Eberechi Eze with his move to bitter rivals, Arsenal, Tottenham now seem eager to capitalise on this situation. The North London club can increase the pressure by quickly moving for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.

This means added focus on Chelsea. The World Cup winners bolstered their attacking line this summer with Liam Delap, João Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Estevão, but manager Enzo Maresca wants a stand-in for Cole Palmer, who can play in multiple positions.
