Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has put out all he knows on the Fermin Lopez to Chelsea noise and the Xavi Simons situation.

Simons to Chelsea has been a subject that has basically lasted the entire window and is a deal that many Blues fans have expected to see happen. But it’s dragged on and on and become a real transfer saga.

Yesterday, it was reported by The Athletic that Chelsea needed to sell Christopher Nkunku to RB Leipzig in a deal that could become key to Simons going to Chelsea this week.

This report of course obviously caused a bit of a stir and had Chelsea fans really questioning for the first time whether they will actually now be signing Simons or not.

And now, we have heard numerous reports from late yesterday afternoon suggesting that Chelsea are now in for Barcelona’s attacking midfielder, Fermin Lopez.

So is this Chelsea moving on from Simons and targeting a different option?

Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his latest YouTube video, said:

“Direct contact TODAY between Chelsea and Fermin Lopez agent. Chelsea started asking questions “How is it going at Barcelona? Hows the contract situation? What’s his salary? Would be be open to leaving? No bid so far but the conversation happened.

“Barcelona sources are denying any official bid from Chelsea for Fermin Lopez.

“There is no club-to-club contact, no official bid, and no concrete negotiations. Nothing really strong in this report, from what I’m hearing.

“Meanwhile, Chelsea remain in contact with Leipzig over Xavi Simons.

The priority is Simons and Garnacho

Romano confirmed Simons is still the priority for Chelsea….

“Chelsea are still working on Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho. These two remain the two priority targets for Chelsea.”
