Roma are preparing to complete a major overhaul of their roster this coming summer.
The capital club are intent on significantly lowering the wage bill and making their team more sustainable in a long-term project with Daniele De Rossi and soon-to-be sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.
Together, De Rossi and Ghisolfi will collaborate on identifying the necessary pieces that will allow Roma to sustain more games over the course of the season, playing with more pace and technicality.
However, first, Roma will have to offload several players.
Besides the usual suspects who are on loan and who are destined to return to their parent clubs (Lukaku, Azmoun, Renato Sanches, Kristensen, Huijsen, Llorente) and Spinazzola who will leave as a free agent, the Giallorossi are also prioritizing the sales of Rick Karsdorp and Chris Smalling.
Both players have been underwhelming this season and their performances and output are not enough to justify their large salaries.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, both are guaranteed to leave, freeing up around €5.5-6 million net in wages.
