Fenerbahce Eye Liverpool’s Alisson Amid Goalkeeper Shake-Up

The summer transfer window has once again brought a flurry of speculation, and one of the latest stories involves Liverpool’s No.1, Alisson Becker. According to a report from Sport Witness, citing Turkish outlet Sabah, “Fenerbahce are showing interest in Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson” as Jose Mourinho searches for an “experienced No.1” following the departure of Dominik Livaković.

Mourinho’s Search for a Proven No.1

Fenerbahce’s pursuit of a new goalkeeper hasn’t been straightforward. The Turkish side initially targeted Manchester City’s Ederson Moraes, but as Sport Witness relayed, “Manchester City reportedly are looking for €20m for the 31-year-old and this has not only deterred Fenerbahce, but also their local rivals Galatasaray.”With that move collapsing, attention has now shifted towards Alisson — a player with an elite pedigree and years of high-level performances for both club and country.

Alisson’s Liverpool Standing

The Brazilian international made 35 appearances for Liverpool last season and remains under contract until 2027. While reports claim “the Brazil international has been offered to them,” Sport Witness note “at this stage there are no reports of transfer talks or offers being lined up.”From a Liverpool perspective, such a departure seems improbable. Losing a world-class goalkeeper who has been central to recent success is not in the club’s plans, especially with new signing Giorgi Mamardashvili expected to compete rather than replace outright.

Transfer Reality Check

While Fenerbahce’s interest is genuine, prising Alisson away from Anfield this summer would be a monumental task. The combination of his contract length, status within the squad, and Liverpool’s ambitions makes any deal highly unlikely.

For now, Mourinho may have to cast his net elsewhere if he hopes to fill the gap left by Livaković before the window closes.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

From a Liverpool supporter’s perspective, this feels like one of those summer rumours that sounds eye-catching but doesn’t carry much weight. Alisson is not just Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper — he’s arguably the best in the world at his position. His leadership, distribution, and match-saving ability have been critical in defining moments, from Champions League heroics to Premier League title runs.

The notion of him swapping Anfield for the Süper Lig at this stage of his career seems far-fetched. Liverpool have just brought in Giorgi Mamardashvili, and while competition for the No.1 shirt is healthy, the Georgian is clearly being lined up for gradual integration, not as an instant replacement.

For Fenerbahce, the logic is clear — Mourinho needs experience, leadership, and a proven winner. But for Liverpool, allowing Alisson to leave when they’re aiming to challenge domestically and in Europe would be counterproductive.

If anything, this story underlines how highly Alisson is regarded across Europe. Even without formal negotiations, the fact his name is being mentioned alongside major transfer targets shows his elite status remains intact. Liverpool fans will hope — and expect — he stays between the posts for years to come.
