Real Madrid have been hit hard by injuries at the start of the season, having lost a number of important players to fitness problems.

Things seem to be easing up for Carlo Ancelotti & co., though, as they recovered Eder Militao from a short spell out last weekend while Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni returned against Stuttgart this week.

Now, another injured player could be on the verge of making a comeback just in time for the crucial derby against Atletico Madrid.

Eduardo Camavinga could be in the squad vs Atletico

Indeed, according to journalist Jorge C Picon, Eduardo Camavinga is making great progress in his recovery and could be back for Real Madrid’s clash against neighbours Atletico Madrid on September 29.

Camavinga is yet to play a single game this season, having been sidelined with a knee injury on the day before the UEFA Super Cup clash against Atalanta.

The former Rennes wonderkid’s recovery has been progressing very well and as things stand, the coaching staff expect him to be back in group training by next week.

As such, Real Madrid are not ruling out the possibility of Camavinga being in the squad list for the clash against Atleti at the Civitas Metropolitano.

The 21-year-old rising star’s return could spark a debate about the starter in the defensive midfield position as there are some doubts growing within the club about Aurelien Tchouameni.

Alternatively, as suggested earlier today, Camavinga’s availability could allow Ancelotti to revert to the four-man midfield setup that he used last season to achieve more balance and stability.

Either way, Camavinga’s imminent return next week would be a welcome boost for Real Madrid.
