The serious injury to Dani Carvajal has brought a lot of uncertainty to this Real Madrid team. There is no doubt that with his injury and the ensuing surgery, which will keep the Spaniard out for the rest of the season, the Merengues have lost one of their most important defenders.

For now, Carlo Ancelotti has only Lucas Vazquez as his option at the right-back. While Eder Militao can also play in this position, the lack of options in the centre of the defence will also make it difficult for Ancelotti to reassign resources from this area of the team.

In such a context, Real Madrid have been mulling going into the winter market to get a replacement for Carvajal, but a final decision has not yet been made in this regard.

Still, Mundo Deportivo reports that there is one defender in Italy that has attracted the interest of the Merengues. This player is Andrea Cambiaso, the 24-year-old fullback who plays for Juventus, and who can play on both the flanks.

Reports from Italy indicate that the European champions are interested in his signing. In fact, they go on to claim that he will be their plan B if Los Blancos are unable to land the Liverpool fullback, Trent Alexander Arnold, with whom they have been closely linked in the last few weeks.

However, getting Cambiaso will not really be easy for Real Madrid, as Juventus have no plans of parting ways with such an important and promising player. Meanwhile, the player himself is not looking to change clubs as he is very happy at the Turin side, and aspires to be a captain of the Italian side.

With his contract that goes till 2029, Real Madrid will have to work extremely hard to convince him to leave Juventus. But this is only the first time the Merengues have been linked with him, and it remains to be seen how this operations unfolds in the future.
