Real Madrid’s 2023-24 campaign in La Liga will go down in history as one of the most flawless campaigns in the history of the competition.
Over the course of the season, Los Blancos won 29 of their 38 games, drew eight matches and lost just once – to Atletico Madrid at Civitas Metropolitano. Unsurprisingly, they finished the season with 95 points and won the league with a ten-point margin.
The men in white’s last defeat in La Liga, thus, takes one close to a year back when they fell in the Madrid derby by a 3-1 margin. A year later, they are on course to record a special achievement.
Atletico Madrid scored three goals past Real Madrid on that fateful night at Civitas Metropolitano on September 24th last year, just under one year ago.
Since then, Real Madrid are unbeaten in 37 games in La Liga and are just one result away from completing the ‘perfect cycle’ that includes 38 games unbeaten.

Later tonight, Carlo Ancelotti’s men take on Espanyol in La Liga and a win or draw on the night will thus complete the special achievement.
Manolo Gonzalez’s men are currently unbeaten in three games and have even held Atletico Madrid to a draw this season. It is thus clear that it will not be simple for Los Blancos against the newly promoted side.
Exactly one week after tonight’s clash, the Merengues are scheduled to take on Atletico Madrid once again at Civitas Metropolitano and it will be interesting to see if they can exact revenge.
After all, the team’s only two defeats last season came against Diego Simeone’s side in two different competitions.
