Real Betis are ready to rival Inter Milan to sign Ricardo Rodriguez on a free transfer.

This according to Spanish outlet Relevo, via FCInterNews. The outlet also reports that there is interest in the Swiss international’s signature from Hoffenheim, Istanbul Baseksehir, and teams in the Saudi Pro League.

31-year-old former AC Milan and Wolfsburg defender Rodriguez is available on a free transfer this summer.

The Swiss is out of contract. His deal with Torino expired at the end of last month.

Reports have indicated that Rodriguez is one of the names on Inter’s list of potential targets in defense.

The Nerazzurri are in search of a left-sided defender who can back up Alessandro Bastoni in the squad.

This is because Carlos Augusto – who had frequently deputized for Bastoni last season – will be tied up at wingback for the first few months of next season, whilst Tajon Buchanan is out.

Rodriguez would represent a fairly logical profile for Inter as a defensive reinforcement.

The 31-year-old has played on the left of a back three for a few years now. He has played there fore Torino under coach Ivan Juric, and also for the Swiss national team.

Moreover, Rodriguez would be available for a minimal investment.

Aside from the fact that the 31-year-old would not require a transfer fee to sign due to his contract situation, he would only demand a short-term contract, and relatively low wages.

However, Inter are not the only club with an interest in signing Rodriguez, reports Relevo.

La Liga side Real Betis also see the Swiss international as a target.

The Spaniards are looking to sign a left-back after selling the likes of Juan Miranda to Bologna and Abner to Lyon this summer.

Betis have already brought in French left-back Romain Perraud from Southampton. But they are seeking one further reinforcement in the position.

Meanwhile, Relevo report, there is also interest in signing Rodriguez on a free transfer from Hoffenheim and Baseksehir.

And teams from the Saudi Pro League have also shown interest.
