The Premier League’s three remaining Champions League representatives have been handed tricky tests in the last-16 of the competition.
Liverpool’s reward for finishing top of the standings during the league phase is a blockbuster tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
Elsewhere in the draw, Arsenal were paired with PSV Eindhoven, while Aston Villa were drawn against Club Brugge.
Liverpool would have been hoping for an easier last-16 draw after finishing top of the table during the opening phase of the competition.
PSG have the potential to cause them plenty of problems – a point evidenced by their fine victory over Manchester City in January.
Arsenal will expect to progress after being drawn against PSV, but they will not be enamoured with their potential quarter-final opponents.
They will face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid if they beat PSV and would find it tricky to navigate their way past either side.
Aston Villa have been drawn against Club Brugge, who upset the odds to defeat Atalanta 5-2 on aggregate in the knockout play-off round.
Villa were beaten 1-0 by the Belgian side during the league phase, but will fancy their chances of gaining revenge over two legs.
Leicester City will climb out of the bottom three if they beat Brentford in the Premier League tonight.
