Current director Joe Shields is set to take up more of a senior management role within the academy now by the looks of things.

According to The Athletic, Neil Bath and Jim Fraser’s departures signal a seismic shift for Chelsea’s academy under the ownership of Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly, with a new management structure expected to be led by co-director of recruitment and talent Joe Shields, as well as director of global recruitment Sam Jewell — set to be announced in the coming weeks.

It’s clear that something has been brewing here for some time now and things haven’t felt right. Chelsea’s owners have made big wholesale changes and it makes you think they are keen to get all their own hires in now.
