The ongoing excellence of Barcelona star Pedri has culminated in the club’s transfer team pulling out of the race for a long-time transfer target.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Midfielder Pedri, of course, is in the midst of nothing short of a brilliant season.

Looking completely rejuvenated under the watch of new boss Hansi Flick, the 22-year-old has dazzled from his berth at the base of the Barcelona engine room.

Dribbling, passing and incessant work off the ball, Pedri has showcased a complete repertoire of midfield excellence, to lead the Blaugrana’s charge for glory on both the domestic and European fronts.

So impressive has the Spanish international been, in fact, that Deco and the transfer team at the Camp Nou have opted to call time on their pursuit of a leading transfer target.

As per a report from Relevo:

‘With Pedri performing as he is in the season of his consecration, Florian Wirtz is no longer an objective. We must forget about Wirtz.’

This news will no doubt come as a boost to those on the other half of the Clásico divide, with Real Madrid, too, long-time admirers of Bayer Leverkusen standout Wirtz’s talents.
