US-based fund Oaktree Capital have officially confirmed their takeover of Inter.

The next few weeks will see the process of Oaktree replacing Suning at the helm unfold.

And there will be questions about exactly what the fund intend for the Nerazzurri.

Oaktree’s statement has confirmed that they do plan to run the club. They are not going to sell it immediately.

However, the Gazzetta notes, this is not going to mean big changes.

Oaktree Capital’s Inter To Build Around Strategy Of Marotta & Ausilio

A key factor in the transition period from Suning to Oaktree will be the stability that comes from the senior management that the outgoing owners put in place.

In the sporting realm, it is Beppe Marotta who has been the architect of the current Inter team.

The veteran former Juventus and Sampdoria executive has been Inter’s CEO since 2018.

And Marotta has been the dominant figure in building an Inter team that has won seven trophies, all while staying within tight financial constraints.

Marotta’s well-known eye for free transfer and bargain signings has been key in this respect.

Moreover, with more than forty years of experience in football, the 67-year-old understands the balance of a squad.

Marotta has already been a key figure at Inter under Suning. But that will if anything become even more the case under Oaktree.

The US fund have made clear that financial and operational stability and sustainability will be major objectives.

And Marotta is certainly the man who can build a strong team while respecting those goals.

Meanwhile, off the pitch, Corporate CEO Antonello has been the man guiding Inter in recent years.

From commercial partnerships to the new stadium plans, Antonello has been the mastermind.

According to the Gazzetta, the Corporate CEO will have an even more entrenched and important role under Oaktree than he did under Suning.
