New York City FC is heading back on the road this weekend when the team will face the New England Revolution. The Pigeons last met the team earlier in the season during the historic tenth anniversary celebration. During that game, the Boys in Blue celebrated the anniversary of their first home fixture and won 2-1.
At that time, it was thought the Revolution would struggle again in 2025. However, since the last meeting, New England has won two of their last three fixtures, including an impressive road win against Atlanta United FC last weekend. This was despite being outshot and out-possessed. Therefore, the Pigeons must be at the top of their game if they want to beat the team in Massachusetts for the second year in a row.
Despite winning last week, the NYCFC attack is still at a questionable point. They won 1-0 against the Philadelphia Union, but it was due to a goalkeeping mistake that allowed Alonso Martínez to score an open-net goal. Since the team scored and won, it was deemed a better offensive performance compared to the Minnesota United FC fixture, but the team from Queens only managed two shots on target. That is why concerns remain heading into the weekend. Plus, the road woes still haunt them.
It would be great for NYCFC to beat New England again and continue their recent six-game unbeaten streak against them in all competitions. But the players must be more clinical on target to do so.

If NYCFC fans cannot watch or listen to the game, then they can follow along via MLS Soccer’s timeline and NYCFC’s X account. Additionally, the club will post updates here and there on Facebook.
A win could see NYCFC jump into a playoff spot in the standings. The Pigeons are also capable of being the threatening offensive team that they can be. There are concerns with the lack of depth and the fact that the team has not made a major signing before the primary transfer window closes. Nevertheless, the current roster can compete with the Revolution despite their recent success. It will be a tougher game compared to the last one, but NYCFC has a chance to win on the road.
