Celtic are in league action again this weekend when they place host to St Johnstone in what is the final fixture of 2024.
It has been an impressive calendar year for Brendan Rodgers’ side, who have only suffered two defeats – a loss against Hearts at Tynecastle back in March when they played most of the game with 10 men, and a defeat this season away to Champions League finalists, Borussia Dortmund.
The Hoops have also picked all up three domestic trophies, securing a league and Scottish Cup double last season and winning the League Cup earlier this month.
So there is a determination to sign off the year in style, and the team go into the match full of confidence on the back of an impressive 4-0 Boxing Day victory over Motherwell.
Nicolas Kuhn returned to the Celtic squad for that match after missing out on the game against Dundee United at Tannadice, and the German winger continued his impressive campaign by scoring one of Celtic’s goals on the day – his 13th of the season.
Now the focus is on Sunday’s match against a St Johnstone side who are currently bottom of the Premiership table.
The previous meeting between the sides this season back in September saw Celtic win 6-0 at McDiarmid Park.
Nicolas Kuhn didn’t score in that game, although he played his part in the victory, and so long as the Hoops pick up another three points this weekend, he’ll be delighted, regardless of who gets the goals.
Speaking ahead of the game, Kuhn said: “We have done a great job so far. We only have one loss this season, and that was in the Champions League.
“We learned from that one as well. I am not too stressed about it. We just try to keep going and get as many points as possible.
'We always focus on the next game and getting the three points. Then we will see what is coming after that.'
“There are the same amount of points available in this game as the next one. That’s how we did it last season and we are doing this time. We always focus on the next game.
“The manager plays a really big part in that. He always gets us ready for the next game.
“He builds the team and keeps us feeling good. He keeps us down to earth and focuses on the next game.”
