Back on 5 June 2025, it was officially announced that Antonito (AKA Antonio Cordero) had agreed to join Newcastle United.
The much talked about signing finally confirmed.
Antonio Cordero (Antonito) to formally sign for Newcastle United on 1 July 2025, once his current contract ended at Malaga.
The Spanish club had already officially confirmed that the teenager would be leaving, having refused to sign a new contract.
The club announced when signing him, that Antonito would head out on loan this coming season.
His absence from the Newcastle United squad that has travelled to the Far East, simply reinforcing that belief.
Now media over in Malaga has reported on where they say the teenage winger will head to on a temporary basis.
The unfortunately named SportDirect Radio over in Malaga, claim that Antonito (Antonio Cordero) will play the 2025/26 season on loan at KVC Westerlo in Belgium.
The Jerez-born winger will go on loan to KVC Westerlo of the Jupiter Pro League and will ultimately not play in European competition.
Antonio Cordero’s stay at Newcastle United was short-lived. According to sources close to the player, Cordero will soon head to Belgium to play on loan at KCV Westerlo . The Jerez native was aware of this situation. The club informed him upon signing his five-year contract that he would be going out on loan in his first season with the Magpies, but the intention was to do so with a team competing in European competition. Ultimately, that was not to be.
The former Málaga CF player will join the ninth-placed team in the Jupiter Pro League last season. Westerlo, after finishing ninth in the regular season, played in the playoff that secured a spot in the Conference League. However, in a competition format as complex as that typically found in the Belgian league, it was Charleroi that secured qualification for European competition, effectively eliminating the former Málaga player’s future club.
Cordero will thus try to prove his worth away from England. This situation was to be expected, as he was not included in the squad for Newcastle’s summer training camp in Asia (Singapore and Seoul).’
